This once agriculturally focused town is today a lush, tourist hot spot. You will find tree-lined streets and hiking trails throughout Orleans. Orleans is home to Kent's Point Conservation Area, a nearly 30-acre area of land that contains more than a mile of undeveloped shoreline as well as several trails. Orleans is also home to the Academy of Performing Arts Playhouse. They put on 12 shows a year. Performances range from dance to classical plays to contemporary musicals. They also offer a wide range of classes for all ages. 

Orleans, incorporated in 1797, lies on the outer Cape between Cape Cod Bay on the west and Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic on the east. The town has beautiful beaches and views of Pleasant Bay that rival the best seaside views in the world. Orleans has a small town feel while being the commercial center of the outer Cape.

Children in Orleans attend schools in the Nauset Regional School District, along with students from Brewster, Eastham, and Wellfleet. Elementary children attend Orleans Elementary School. Middle schoolers attend Nauset Regional Middle School. Eighth - twelfth graders attend Nauset Regional High School. High schoolers also have the option of attending Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Harwich free of charge.
